Is The Vault really free?▾
Yes. Completely free. No trial period, no feature locks, no premium tier, no subscription. Every module, every feature, unlimited firearms, unlimited photos. HexCore Mounts builds free tools for the 2A community — The Vault is part of a 39+ tool ecosystem we maintain at no cost to users.
Where is my data stored?▾
On your device only. The Vault uses your browser's built-in localStorage. Your data never leaves your phone or computer. There is no server, no cloud database, no account system. We have zero ability to see, access, or retrieve your data.
Can HexCore see my serial numbers or photos?▾
No. We cannot see anything you enter. The app runs entirely in your browser — your data is stored locally in the same way your browser stores bookmarks or saved passwords. Nothing is transmitted. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking of any kind.
What happens if I clear my browser data?▾
If you clear your browser data (cookies, cache, site data), your vault data will be deleted. This is why we built the Export/Backup feature. We strongly recommend exporting a backup regularly and storing the JSON file somewhere safe — a USB drive, your computer, or an encrypted cloud folder of your choosing.
Does it work offline?▾
Yes. After your first visit, The Vault caches itself for offline use via a service worker. You can open it, add records, take photos, and log range visits without an internet connection. The only thing that requires internet is the initial load and any external links.
Can I use it on Android and iPhone?▾
Yes. The Vault is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that works on any modern device. On Android, open it in Chrome and you'll get an "Install" or "Add to Home Screen" prompt. On iPhone, open it in Safari, tap the Share button, and choose "Add to Home Screen." Once installed, it looks and behaves like a native app — fullscreen, its own icon, no browser bar.
How is this different from GunTrack or My Armory?▾
The Vault has more features than both paid apps — including NFA tracking, insurance readiness, dry fire training, checklists, malfunction logging, and an accessories module. The critical difference: those apps store your data on their cloud servers. The Vault stores everything locally on your device. No account, no cloud, no subscription, no cost.
Can I transfer my data to a new phone?▾
Yes. Use the Export Backup feature to save your vault as a JSON file. Transfer that file to your new phone (via email, AirDrop, USB, whatever you prefer), then use Import Backup in The Vault on your new device. All records, photos, and history will be restored.
Is the serial number field required?▾
No. Serial number is an optional field clearly labeled "for insurance only — stored on device." You decide whether to use it. Some people record serials for insurance documentation purposes. Others don't. Both approaches are fully supported.
How many firearms / photos can I store?▾
There is no artificial limit. You can add as many firearms, ammo records, accessories, and logs as you want. Photos are compressed to save space (resized to 1200px max, JPEG at 70% quality). Browser localStorage typically allows 5-10MB of data, which translates to roughly 50-100 compressed photos. If you need more, export your data periodically.
Does the ammo auto-deduct feature actually work?▾
Yes. When you log a range visit and select which ammo you used, The Vault automatically subtracts the rounds fired from your ammo inventory. Your ammo count stays current in real-time without manual adjustment.
Who built this?▾
HexCore Mounts is a family-owned firearms accessories company based in Winder, Georgia. We build American-made firearm mounts and maintain a
2A Tool Hub with 39+ free tools for the firearms community. The Vault is part of that mission: add more value than you take.
Are native Android and iOS apps available?▾
Native apps for Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store) are in development. The full-featured web app is available right now at hexcorevault.com/app — install it to your home screen and it works exactly like a native app. Fullscreen, offline capable, all 11 modules. See our
installation guide for step-by-step instructions.
